Probably Not.

Perhaps you'll go jump out of a tree
Or skip through flowers
Or eat small animals
Or whatever you people do for fun
But maybe not.
Maybe you'll watch the sunset
And think of buckets of puppies
And then throw up on your new shoes
And scream strange things
Out into the atmosphere
Like "Hello World!
My name is not Harriet
Or Phillip
Or Beatrice
And I do not speak Chinese!"
But probably not.
So instead you'll buy a pony
Or a miniature horse
And dress it in a rabbit suit
And ride it naked through the library
On a mission to find a werewolf
Who lives in an Italian restaurant
Off the coast of Puerto Rico
But most likely not.
I bet you'll dig a tunnel
That leads to an underground cavern
Where there's a secret civilization
Of talking gerbils in tuxedos
And become the King Gerbil
And make them pre-chew your bubblegum
And knit you purple leg warmers
Or maybe blue because that's your favorite
Then you'd make the gerbils do step aerobics
While you throw popcorn at them
But I doubt it.
Actually, I know what you'd do!
You'd just sit there
And stare
And think
And then you'd stand
And think
About what to say
And then say nothing at all
And sit back down
So I'd leave you alone
To sit and stare and stand and think and say nothing
And I'd go laugh and play
And do all of the things you didn't do
And I'd never worry about you again
But that probably wouldn't happen.

Endless Sky

I reach my hands to endless sky
And try to pull it near
The creatures swim above me
As they whisper in my ear
"Now is the time, it's getting late,
You've nothing left to fear"

They dash away to endless sky
And I run with quickening pace
To climb the tree before the beast
And reach the giant's face
The beast declaws it's vicious feet
To see I've won the race

The giant, with a humble laugh
Removes me from his hair
With just a step, we're 'round the world
The earth is just his lair
He says "don't look down at the ground,
You'll see it isn't there"

His glasses hide the twinkling stars
That glisten in his eye
With outstreached arms, I touch the rim
And feel the endless sky
Then dive into the liquid glass
And gravity defy

Floating through the Morpheus air
I'm startled back to being
To realize that it's all a dream
A false euphoric feeling
But somewhere there is endless sky
The earth must be concealing

the world of the useless

the whole world spinning fast
nothing's ever made to last
I stand caught up in the past
as nothing stays the same

the people walking by
keep their heads turned to the sky
I will never catch their eye
only play into their game

they never understand
that I'm sinking in the sand
and when I reach out for a hand
they all just slip away

for every line they cross
I must pay a higher cost
I wander 'round, forever lost
as the sky above turns gray

they all will shine a light
on every line that I should write
until it means I'm up to fight
but I'm not holding any gun

I'm stretched across the miles
between the sobbing and the smiles
I will face a hundred trials
until I know I've found the one

We Never Had a Chance

You weave a tangled web of lies
A web that covers up the skies
Inside my heart the spider lies
We never had a chance

You filled my mind with empty air
A promise that you wouldn't care
The way it stopped, it isn't fair
We never had a chance

You dropped me in the deepest sea
A place I always dread to be
You knew what it would do to me
We never had a chance

You dropped the poison on my tongue
A noxious breath that fills my lung
It warmed me, though it burned and stung
We never had a chance

You fooled me with your joker grin
A look that brought me back again
Forever caught up in the sin
We never had a chance

You left me without saying why
I still don't know, although I try
I still am left to wonder why
We never had a chance

But now you seem to be so blue
You'd think that I would take the clue
But what if I belong with you?
We never had a chance

Forgive and Forget

My mind is now open
As the worry pours out
Into a neverending ocean
Of fear and of doubt

My ears are now deaf
To the hate and sorrow
To the whispers of jealousy
As I dream of tomorrow

My mouth is now smiling
As I think of the new
I await new memories
And forget about you

My hands are now reaching
For something to hold
Endless possibilities
If I leave out the old

My feet are now walking
To who knows where
But if fate leads the way
I'll find my way there

My heart is now patient
As I free up my mind
And space is made empty
As I leave you behind

There's a time to remember
And a time to forget
But I feel that the best times
Haven't happened just yet

What's past doesn't matter
And I learn to forgive
I'll forget useless pain
And remember to live

Perfect Place

We could run away from home
In a rusty greyhound bus
And if the bus ran out of gas
I'd call a cab for us

We could sail the seven seas
In a boat just meant for two
And if you fell off overboard
I'd swim out after you

We could hide inside an igloo
In a wintry blizzard storm
And if the earth was freezing cold
I'd stay to keep you warm

We could fly up to the moon
In a rocket made of sand
And if the whole ship fell apart
I'd float with you to land

But for now I'll just stay here
In your warm, loving embrace
But if we ever want to leave
I know the perfect place

To Do and Too Done

I've been around
I've seen the sights
I've lived my days
And slept my nights

I've felt the proof
I've sensed the dark
I've wandered 'round
And missed the spark

I've given up
I've pushed on through
I've passed the time
And dreamt of you

I'll stay awake
I'll wait all night
I'll learn to speak
And make it right

I'll watch the sky
I'll smell the air
I'll find the place
And bring you there

I'll tell the truth
I'll take the time
I'll stick around
And drop the rhyme

So just hurry and figure out that I love you.
